Informal employment has become a latent problem in almost every country in the world, not only because of its effects on productivity and tax recruitment, but because of its appalling consequences on the well-being of Mexican society. As a result, this research examines the phenomenon of informality of work using the foundations of the structuralist theoretical approach; an econometric data panel model is used, pointing to unemployment, poverty and employment in the tertiary sector as the main causes of this phenomenon. Moreover, the document highlights the influence of geographical and regional factors on the behaviour of informality of work, so that public policy measures that must be applied to correct regional asymmetries must be Discriminatory.
