Analysis of the satisfactions of the beneficiaries of the comedores populares social program: the use of the ordered Logit model

This article analyzes the factors are analyzed to the successes of the Comedores Populares social program in Mexico City based on the application of an Ordered Logit model. The data presented correspond to 207 questionnaires applied to a total of 36 soup kitchens considered in the sample, belonging to the 16 municipalities of Mexico City. The data collected allows us to know the sociodemographic characteristics of the users, the majority of whom were interviewed men, with an average age of 44 years. It was found that in households composed only of adults, 1 in 5 presented severe, moderate or mild food insecurity. However, the situation is aggravated in households with a minor, where approximately 2 out of 6 are in this situation. Using the Ordered Logit model it was possible to determine that the consumption of cereals, legumes and meats are the factors that users perceive that increase the quality of the services provided, therefore, this research concludes that the satisfaction of the beneficiaries increases as they perceive a higher nutritional quality in the food they eat; In addition, public policies such as these dining rooms promote access to and guarantee adequate food
