Trade liberalization and economic growth in Latin America (1982–2017)

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between trade openness (measured by exports of goods and services as a percentage of GDP) and economic growth in 17 Latin American countries over the period from 1982 to 2017, using panel data techniques. The findings indicate that increased trade openness in Latin American countries has contributed to higher economic growth rates.
