Analysis of the impact of corporate sustainability on the financial performance of companies listed in the sustainable IPC

Abstract

The objective of this research is to determine whether the incorporation of companies to the CPI sustainable, impacts their financial performance. The hypothesis proposes that, with the incorporation of the company to the sustainable CPI, there are patterns of structural change in the behavior of financial indicators related to profitability, debt, volume of sales, growth and liquidity. The methodology is based on structural stability tests, CUSUM of squares and the Chow stability test; with quarterly data for a sample of 13 companies that are listed constantly, in the IPC Sustainable from 2002 to 2019. The results show medium term structural changes for some companies and in some indicators, with different trends and temporalities. The study leaves out the analysis of stock market indicators for future research.
